Particles

Image
I wanted to experiment with Maya particles whilst I was on my summer break. I did a bit of this following some tutorials online. The first one I totally followed tutorial work, and the second I just wanted to try and get working myself based on a lot of googling. I'm quite pleased with both of them, more so the second one, I do plan on looking into more complex particles, although there seems to be quite a bit of coding involved.

More Summer Work

Image
Just a little piece of animation. Ive been quite busy with my summer job so haven't had a lot of time to do animation. This is one thing I managed to get finished This is a bit of test rendering I did, just playing with different materials and lighting to see how it works in Maya 2016, nothing to complicated, I just wanted to get used to where the menus and options were with the new Mental Ray I'm not happy with how dark it is, it was a lot brighter in the Maya preview window and I'm not sure what caused it to be darker outside of Maya.

Maya Roundup #5

This is a little collection of the last few things I did in my freetime at Uni before I came home for summer. I had to wait till I was home to get everything rendered out before I could upload anything. I'm pretty pleased with this. It was the first time I tried to use the rigs with the strechy limbs turned on and I think it turned out fairly well. I wanted to spend a lot of time on the poses and I think it paid off. I think for the way I work I prefer to go through straight forward, not going pose to pose, just because it is easier to get the timing right this way. I'm not sure which is faster, this way or pose to pose but that is something I'll figure out as I keep working. This was a slightly longer project I was doing. I started out just doing the simple character animation. I noticed some of my work was quite slow sometimes so I knew I wanted to make something with a lot of fast movement. After I had the animation roughed out I decided I wanted to put m...

End of Year Showreel

Image
This is my final showreel for the Year, showing some of what I think is best work I have done in 3D animation this year, I think I've come a long way from bouncing balls. I'm already working on a few things to keep myself busy as well as trying to think up something or things to work on over summer, but really now it is 3 months of freedom!

Completed Title Sequence

Image
Our title sequence project is now over and we have handed in the video! I'm really happy with how the project went and how we managed as a group despite the setbacks we had, in terms of idea and development as well as design and problems when we were animating. I think what we made is pretty good and I'm really proud of the work and what we managed to achieve as a group. The two links below take you to my other posts about the development of this project. Falmouth Projection Map

Image
This is the 2nd 3D projection I've done, I took this photo myself using my phone camera in Falmouth Town, I'm glad I have found a way to now use any photo for projection mapping. I think this is ok, not as good as my previous one, but I did less modelling for this one.

Title Sequence Portfolio

Image
This is my portfolio of the work I did for our group title sequence project. As I mentioned in my previous post about title sequence, I did all of the rigging, as well as half of the character animation and modelling in Maya. This is just a short showreel demonstrating the rigs:
