First Semester Showreels (2D+3D)
These are my two showreels from my first semester of animation.
It's fairly easy to tell from these that I really prefer 3D animation to 2D animation.
I loved setting up lighting and rendering out all my 3D work. I found it really intuitive and I managed to put to use a lot of the skills from constraints to set the lighting up how I liked it. I tested a lot of different lighting set-ups, played with some textures and different types of material in Maya.
Lighting and Animation are my two favourite aspects of the 3D work flow. I got a lot more confident working with UVs and Unwrapping 3D characters. I think I really need to work on my skill in mudbox, but I really want to push myself in lighting and the actual animation process.
I now have a two week break, on this I plan on practising my Animation skills and researching and reading up on different lighting techniques and setups.
I also on the side am beginning to learn python in order to use in Maya to expand what I can do with the program.
